It took me almost a year to write this review. I am still in shock due to the lack of empathy from the staff here. It is unbelievable how people could be in this line of business, and still treat people unprofessionally, as if their loss wasn’t painful enough. My father passed away in February of 2025. Unfortunately, this was the most reasonable place we were able to find for our budget. I still feel guilty for leaving my father in the hands of these people, because if they treated myself and my family poorly, I cannot imagine the care that they provided for my father. The woman in the front desk, is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I could sit here and tell the story of my and my families experience with this place but, I don’t have that kind of time. I hope that all the bad reviews this place has earned, opens them up to a learning experience and they are able provide a more friendly, professional , and empathetic service, to the families of their decedents. Losing someone is hard enough, they don’t need the employees from this place making this a more traumatic experience. Please people, do your research, read the reviews, and trust them. I am guilty of this myself. Otherwise, we would have never trusted leaving my father at the hands of these people.

During a time of grief and mourning for a loved one, David was direct, kind, and accommodating to our needs. He promptly answered my phone calls, explained the protocol, and was timely. Cedar Hill Mortuary was very helpful, and I am incredibly thankful for their support.
★★★★★I do not recommend Cedar Hill. I wasn't price shopping at all and chose them based on a recommendation from the hospital. They promised a timely cremation and it took three times as long (at least) as they promised. They do not return phone calls as promised and have no answering machine taking messages. It's extremely frustrating and heart-wrenching because this is happening with your loved one's body. I don't know how they stay in business with this kind of customer service.
★★★★★Their service is horrible. They took 1 month to give me my mother’s ashes due to them failing to communicate with their own mortuary. If it wasn’t for me and my husband constantly calling them and asking about my mother’s ashes she would probably still be in the freezer. She was refrigerated for 3 weeks.. they stated she would be ready on a Tuesday, I called no answer, called Wednesday no answer until finally on a Thursday they responded and said they had issues with the crematory but she was ready since Wednesday. No apologies no concern. Please use another place. Please

The person who owns and runs Cedar Hill should not be in any kind of business especially a mortuary. Their website indicates they are open and available 24 hours a day and yet no matter what time you call they do not answer and no response to the messages. After several attempts I gave up and found another mortuary who had a very good price, responded to my messages and emails in a timely matter, compassionate and were helpful during the whole time.
I wish I checked Cedar Hills’s reviews before I contacted them the first time and saved myself the aggravation and unnecessary stress. After reading the negative reviews, which are 100% correct, and the horrible experience I had I am actually very relieved that they did not answer and did not handle the arrangements. The idea that my loved one could have ended in their care gives me nightmares. Can you imagine not being able to get hold of the mortuary that have someone you love and just lost? I should thank them for being the unprofessional people they are and did not answer the phone. I dodged a bullet.
Losing someone is the hardest thing you can go through. You want to honor your loved one, but Cedar Hill does not let you do that and add to your stress. They need to find another business to do and let the mortuary business to the professionals and caring people.
