I was very pleased with all the attention to detail and courtesy that Charles W. Smith & Sons provided. There are no words to fully express my gratitude for the extraordinary care and dedication. One of the biggest things is my dad was a long haul trucker and on the video screen with all his pictures they created an intro of him driving a truck, it was above and beyond. Most would have just thrown the pics together, but they made it memorial. The care that they took in creating a beautiful portrait was also exquisite. Thank you for all you did for our family. I would highly recommend this funeral home to anyone who needs the least stress and the best hospitality.

It’s been about 8 years since I’ve had to meet with a funeral director about a loved one and I must say that Raini Day was an exception. She didn’t mind answering all of the many questions our family had about the services. My biggest concern was that my sister [Janet Sebile] looked like herself and if she did not I did not want an open casket. I must say that Raini exceeded my expectations and she will never know how important that was to me, so I’m eternally grateful. I want to personally Thank the staff for being so kind to our family during the services. Several of my family members stated how nice it was that the staff opened other rooms to make our family comfortable. To all of the kind staff at Charles W Smith in Sachse I say Thank you and God Bless you all! Farrell Tezeno
I want to express my deepest and most heartfelt appreciation for Charles W. Smith & Sons. I am especially grateful to Rainy Day, who was entrusted with the sacred task of dressing and presenting my son to me one last time. There are no words to fully express my gratitude for the extraordinary care and dedication she put into making him look more beautiful than ever. Her compassion and attention to detail brought me a measure of peace in an unimaginably difficult moment, and for that, I will be forever thankful.
What a disgusting and unethical funeral home. Somewhere that’s supposed to treat those who’ve passed with dignity and respect, showed my grandmother with nothing but disrespect. And she was a friend of Charles Smith himself. They mishandled and abused her body, based on the large postmortem laceration on her face. They over embalmed her to the point that she was seeping in her casket and we had to cover it up with a blanket- she looked nothing like herself. Andy Ortiz failed to get the police escort and the hearse was running yellow lights with the body and 30+ cars trying to keep up. He also took a phone call during the funeral in which he was yelling at the Sachse PD to cover his mistake when they couldn’t provide a police escort without proper notice. We could hear him yelling from the funeral. Andy also provided the wrong name for the vault and tried to scrape it off and glue the correct name on there- it looked awful. Then offered to take her back to the funeral home so they could get it straightened out. ABSOLUTELY NOT. We refused to put her back in their care. It’s been 3 years and I still can’t visit her grave without getting furious. I will never find peace there, thanks to Andy Ortiz and Charles W. Smith. I hope they see her face every day and feel shame for how they handled someone- the LAST person who deserved to be treated like that, and a faithful friend to the Smith family. Absolutely disgusting. If you want your loved one to be treated with respect, DO NOT leave them in Charles W. Smith’s care.
After the unexpected death of my father, we were scrambling to find the perfect place to handle my dads services. This was the second place that we visited and immediately felt like everything would be taken care of. They didn't make us feel like we were just a paycheck to them (which the first place def did). It's hard to describe your fathers funeral as perfect, but this place did everything to make sure that he was honored, in the fashion that WE decided he should be. It was as perfect as a funeral could be. We had over 300 in attendance, which was not expected, and they accommodated as best they could (given no notice). Jo and Mike were amazing to myself and my family, making us feel warm and welcome, even after the fact. I would highly recommend this funeral home to anyone who needs the least stress and the best hospitality. Thank you Charles and Sons for making this a heartfelt, stress free experience for our family.
