***Update: I did want to add that after my review I received the floral arrangement and a refund as well as a call from the GM. I do appreciate it. Unfortunately I am not very impressed with Olingers. While our personal funeral director was very nice and did help us plan our mother's service, the floral arrangement that was supposed to be displayed next to her urn was never delivered to the service. Although I was told, after, that the cost of the arrangement would be refunded and the flowers would be delivered to our home to enjoy, neither has happened. Also, communication through e-mail is not responded to at all. All in all, we should have chosen a different mortuary.

When our daughter, Stacey, passed away a little over two years ago, we came to Olinger Highland for services. My husband and I met with Rod Guthals. He was so kind, thorough, and just an absolute delight to work with despite losing our cherished daughter. He took exceptional care of everything. This past December, I had to call Olinger Highland again. My husband died unexpectedly. I didn’t think twice about calling my friend, Rod, at Olinger Highland to help me navigate through another death. Unfortunately, Rod was no longer employed there. I was told he left to work for another funeral company. Instead, I spoke with two ladies- Lori and Kelly. My conversations with them, to say the least, were absolutely horrible. I questioned if they really worked for Olinger and if they were trained funeral employees. They were abrupt, cold, and rude. Their communication skills were severely lacking. I could go on. This was the complete opposite of my experience with Rod. I can’t tell you how this compounded my grief. I was beside myself and didn’t know where to turn. After searching old text messages and phone numbers, I found Rod’s number and called him. He was, in fact, with another funeral home. I explained my experience to him and expressed my complete unhappiness and disappointment with Olinger Highland. Rod helped me and offered available alternative solutions. He put me in touch with one of his associates, Patrick, who was an ex-Olinger employee. Together, Rod and Patrick have taken great care of everything were able to get my husband transferred to their mortuary. Together, we have planned a Celebration of Life for my husband that I know he would be proud of. I was surprised that Olinger never followed up with me to find out why I transferred my contract to Horan. I do not plan to use Olinger Highland for future Mortuary arrangements. The burial staff is wonderful.
Losing my mother in October was one of the hardest experiences of my life, and planning her services was emotional and overwhelming. I want to sincerely thank the funeral home and cemetery staff for the care and professionalism they showed my family during this time. Kelly, the manager, was especially helpful. She was organized, compassionate, and made sure every detail was handled smoothly and exactly as planned. She took the time to answer questions, explain the process, and guide us through decisions when we were grieving and not thinking clearly. Her support truly made a difficult time more manageable. The services were handled with dignity and respect, and everything went as it should. Our family was able to focus on honoring my mother instead of worrying about logistics, and that meant more than I can say. I’m very grateful for the kindness and professionalism we were shown, and I appreciate the care they gave to my mother and our family. Thank you for helping!
My family and I worked with Angelica and Patrick, they were exceptional, helping us in a very delicate time and guiding us through every step of the process as we had never experienced a loss. We are deeply appreciative for the experience that longer highland gave us.
I am so frustrated with the condition of the grounds. My family all rests here and my grandparents area grass is completely dried out and covered with weeds. After two months I brought out my own gardening supplies and spent hours pulling weeds. I had a whole garbage bag full. Multiple employees drove by in carts not one stopped to talk with me or ask what I was doing with a wagon full of yard tools. My sisters urn was stolen years ago and the staff still hasn't replaced it, after telling me they were going to. I wouldn't use their services knowing how they care for their resting places.
