Our family entrusted McKay Family Mortuary with the services for our mother, Carolyn Tate Ferguson, who passed away suddenly on November 9, 2025. During one of the most difficult times in our lives, the entire team at McKay Family funeral Home showed us compassion, patience, and true professionalism.
They helped us plan every detail, walked us through the entire process, and answered every question and concern with care and understanding. Nothing ever felt rushed, and we always felt supported.
My brother and I are especially thankful for Taylor, the young man who assisted us the most. Taylor truly went above and beyond. With the help of my niece and cousin, he made sure our mom looked absolutely amazing—from her makeup to every final detail. From every phone call to every message, he was always responsive, patient, and reassuring. He even took photos at both the viewing and the funeral, which meant more to our family than words can express.
Taylor was amazing, and I am so thankful for his assistance and dedication. If you are looking for someone who will truly take their time, appreciate the importance of their skills, and treat your loved one with care and respect, I highly recommend working with him. He is awesome.

★★★★★First of all my apologies for not posting this sooner. But the grief has consumed me and I’m still processing it all. McKay was such a light and blessing to my family. We used their services once before and the service was so beautiful. But this time, I can’t express how angelic and beautiful my mom’s service was. We sent pictures to McKay for my mom’s makeup for resemblance. Taylor met us when we got there and spoke with us and assured us that he would take care of her, and made sure her makeup was perfect. Just the fact that he took time out to make sure that he had a conversation with us went over and beyond what we expected. The day before her service, I was so scared to walk in the chapel. When I finally got the strength to go in, and I walked up to my mom‘s casket, she looked SO beautiful. I was beyond words. I was prepared to cry. But she looks so beautiful and at peace, and her make up was just as beautiful as if she would applied it. My mom was a make up artist, so her final viewing had to be perfect. Although it was out of our control, we had no choice but to trust. When I got there, Taylor met us inside the chapel and his energy was everything we needed on that day. Just having that level of support at the most horrible time in one’s life and day, meant so much to me and my family.
Till this day I am so grateful for his support. He assured us that she would be handled with care. Made her look at beautiful as she was when she was with us. Her hair was perfect and the suggestions he gave were perfect! Thank you Taylor. Thank you McKay. I am beyond words on how professional and kind your staff is. Thank you for serving our community with care and love. We appreciate you.

Of all places to review and rate great I hate it having to be a mortuary. We had the untimely lost of 2 family members this year within 5 months of eachother, with them being mother and daughter, so it has been a difficult year. With that, we found ourselves at McKays twice this year. A loss is difficult enough, and the viewing can be an even more difficult process. Taylor is the person responsible for preparing loved ones for viewing. Although horrible circumstances, it has been a blessing to be able to work with him! He's considerate, responsive and honest and really goes out of his way to make sure the families needs and concerns are met. At such a sensitive time, you appreciate people that take that extra consideration and he does that. Like stated, I would prefer to never be writing this review at all but I had to make sure I reviewed him for his service during one of the most difficult years of my life. Thank you Taylor for all your help! Blessings!
★★★★★Brian McKay and the team at McKay’s South Bay Mortuary did an exceptional job assisting our family with the planning and execution of our father’s funeral services. From the initial phone call, they showed compassion, listened and understood our needs.
They provided support and guidance throughout the entire process, which made the process more manageable. There expertise and recommendations assisted us with our father’s preparation, clothing selection, and the preparation of the announcement and program. Lastly, they setup the internment arrangements with the Veterans Administration, as our father was a veteran. And the Honors service at the VA cemetery was excellent! He would be proud.
